Watching LPU on it's 60th

FOR ROBERTO Laurel president of the Lyceum of the Philippines University LPU the partnership between the school and Swatch Philippines was a collaboration of two brands committed to building a legacy of quality and sterling reputation. Pride and joy were written on Laurel s face as he told his audience of university officials faculty members and students and a few guests. This watch is really the fruit of our labor and our efforts and the labor and efforts of those who came be fore us.
The watch was the special edition Swatch commissioned to mark LPU's 60th anniversary Swiss made to description it is a Swatch X large watch with a face in Lyceum red and a translucent plastic case. The silicone strap, also in red bears the LPU logo and the numeral 60 Laurel said I would like to think we own this watch and be cause we own it and because of our efforts we will be passing it on to the next generation of Lyceum students He said the launch of the special LPU Swatch was a celebration of our achievement. Quality and a good reputation are the most precious legacies we can pass on to our students and those who will be entering our corridors in the future he added Laurel said the LPU Swatch was symbolic of the school's achievements.
LPU Counts Down to 60th Foundation Anniversary
In grand fashion, the entire Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila community flooded Intramuros with a sea of red, as each one donned the school colors to celebrate the kickoff ceremonies for the LPU 60th Foundation Anniversary.
The celebrations began with a street dance competition inside the LPU Quadrangle participated in by all the colleges after which the various contingents then paraded around Intramuros led by a marching band. This was followed by a float adorned with recyclable materials presented by the College of Engineering, representing the University’s Environment Management System, which the college leads. A float showcasing models of the school’s different uniforms, the reigning Mr. and Ms. LPU and a lookalike of the University’s founder Dr. Jose P. Laurel, completed the entourage that paraded around the walled city.
The culmination of the kickoff celebration was held inside the Baluarte Dilao, fronting The Bayleaf Intramuros. The President delivered his inspirational “birthday” message to the LPU Community, congratulating everyone for the numerous achievements, while emphasizing that 60 years for a University is still a young age.
Activities for the celebration of the 60th Foundation Anniversary will span the whole year, with such events as the Launching of the Commemorative Stamp in January, The Launching of the biography of Sen. Sotero H. Laurel in September and the International Conference on Hospitality Management in October. Annual Foundation Week celebrations will also be held in March, such as the Mr. and Ms. LPU 2012 Coronation Night on March 8, the Pilgrimage to Tanauan, Batangas on March 9 and the Grand Alumni Homecoming Night on March 10.
A festive countdown was performed by each of the colleges, the athletes, the performing arts groups, the pep squad and the members of the Council of Deans, Directors and Department Heads (CODDH). The countdown was concluded with the release of 60 balloons, fireworks and a shower of confetti from the Bayleaf’s skydeck as the throng of red was ablaze with jubilation and excitement over the University’s foundation anniversary on March 9, 2012.
LPU Unveils 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp
In celebration of its Diamond Jubilee, Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila recently unveiled its 60th Anniversary Commemorative Stamp. The stamp was presented by Assistant Postmaster General Luis Carlos to the LPU Academic Community represented by LPU President Roberto Laurel, Vice President for Finance Sarah Laurel Lopez and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Conrado Iñigo Jr. at the Mabini Hall.
The stamp design is a modified version of the University’s 60th Foundation Anniversary Logo superimposed on the map of the Philippines. The logo signifies the University’s great leadership and flourishing success over the years, reinforcing the stronghold of Philippine Education through the pillars of academe, sports and arts.
LPU Launches 60th Foundation Anniversary Logo
Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) Manila mark it's 60th Foundation Anniversary next year and has launched the logo for this milestone event. Reflecting the theme, "A Towering Commitment to Nation Building". The logo features the iconic LPU Tower wrapped in the national colors.
Founded by the statesman and nationalist, Dr. Jose P. Laurel, LPU today continues to live out his vision of an excellent, well-rounded education committed to the service of God and country.
